Newsletter April 2007

Welcome
It’s April, Easter and the daffs have been and gone, and the temperature is rising!

News

We've just won a prestigious design competition! 39steps' winning design will be produced as the overall Six Cities Design Festival t-shirt, and be produced in a limited edition run alongside six designed by prolific designers including Wayne Hemingway and Zandra Rhodes.

Last month, we made our TV debut on the very high-brow 'Holyrood Live' on BBC 2 as part of a piece on politics and small businesses. Apart from becoming minor celebs, we've been busy bees at 39HQ, working on several company identities, a website, complete branding including interiors (see 'hot off the press', below) and packaging designs… it’s all go!

We've been working a lot with the Food & Drink and Hospitality sectors and we'd love to talk to decision makers in these areas who are interested in how their marketing material can work for them. This could be restaurateurs, hoteliers, wine merchants, caterers etc… If you know someone who fits the bill, do pass on our details and/or let Julie know at julie@39stepsstudio.com, tel: +44 (0)131 220 3851.

Meantime, Julie got herself hitched and is trying to get to get to grips with her new pressure cooker. Lewis is off on holiday to sunny France and is very much looking forward to playing Boules in some idyllic town square. Waseem's big news from last time was... he’s going to become a dad! Tips for avoiding sleepless nights are most welcome...

Wannaburger Restaurants launched it’s second Wannaburger outlet in the west end last month, following a successful 18 months with the flagship site on the Royal Mile. The new restaurant required revised graphics which will be used for future sites from now on. Click here to view the project.

"I began by using a London based company with a long list of credentials. However I found that their vision for Wannaburger was different to mine and I couldn’t get them round to my way of thinking. 39 Steps understood straightaway what I was looking for and in no time we had agreed on the main graphic themes for Wannaburger. I am absolutely delighted with the end result – the graphics work well on everything from an A5 flyer to an 8 metre wall."

Terry Francis - Architecture:
Probably one of the best mix albums you’ll ever hear. Difficult to believe but this is almost ten years old and still sounds as fresh as anything around these days. DJ Terry Francis mixes up a subliminal set of tech-house tunes, all with a warm melodic vibe making it essential for purveyors of fine grooves. Works just as well in a club as it does while your chilling in the garden. Every single track is a standout gem but special mention must go to François Kevorkian’s mix of Ame Strong's "Tous Est Blue”. Bring on the summer!
