Newsletter November 2007

Welcome

Happy new year to one and all! We hope you had a fantastic festive break and that you’ve returned to work with an injection of vigour and vitality and are raring to make this an unbelievably successful year. If not then you’re probably one of many experiencing those January blues, or is it S.A.D.? Yes we know its absolutely freezing and miserably wet but look on the bright side, this summer’s gonna be a cracker!*

Like the proverbial ‘bat out of hell’, Team39 return looking to build upon last year’s great success and are hugely excited at the year ahead. We’ve lots of things on the boil and can’t wait to share them with you. For those about to sail on the good ship 39, we salute you!

News

This year is lining up to be a great one for movies. So many releases, where do we start? Well, here’s a small hand-picked selection to begin with...

Cloverfield
The top secret JJ Abrams produced monster movie had a great teaser trailer. Will the movie be even half as good? No idea. The film follows a group of friends in New York City during one January night when some kind of monster attacks. Release February 2008.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Not much can be said about the storyline, as it’s being kept tightly under wraps. George Lucas has said that Crystal Skull is more in tone with Raiders of the Lost Ark than any other film in the series. This makes us very, very excited. Release May 2008.

Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt
The follow-up to ‘Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan’, follows Cohen’s third ‘Da Ali G Show’ character Brüno, a gay Austrian TV reporter who interviews unsuspecting guests about topics such as fashion, entertainment, celebrities and homosexuality, with an emphasis on the latter as each interview progresses. Release TBC 2008.

The Day the Earth Stood Still
A remake of the classic 1951 sci-fi action film in which Keanu Reeves plays Klaatu, an alien who arrives on Earth accompanied by a large humanoid robot named Gort, with a warning to world leaders that their continued aggression will lead to annihilation by species watching from afar. Release December 2008.

That takes care of 2008, and we’ve not even mentioned The Dark Knight, X Files 2, Wanted, Ironman, Adventureland...
