Newsletter September 2007

Welcome

September... a sad month for many as it signals the end of summer (insert your own many gripes here). But for Team39 it brings us to the end of our fourth year in business. As we look out towards year five we can only speculate as to what lies ahead... robots that eat mashed potatoes, DeLoreans that run on rubbish, garlic bread... the stuff of the future surely! But some things still stay the same: our commitment to fresh creative design, keeping our clients happy, and championing the lost art-form of ‘spraff’.

We recently launched our contemporary calendar selection, twenty08. With our 13 month calendar (Dec 07-Dec 08), you can ensure your name’s on your prospects’ desk before anyone else! Order your calendars now and beat the rush, click here for more info.

Twenty08

We’re also going to be exhibiting at next month’s Business Scotland 2007 exhibition. Come and see us at stand 124 and enter our competition to win a pop-up banner for your business! See below for more details...

So what have we been up to? Julie’s been looking at travel brochures and wondering if our supposed indian summer will EVER arrive...; Lewis is just back from Honeymoon in Paris, saw the Louvre, the Tower, went on a river cruise and got run over by a bike; Steven has survived his first month at Step Towers and has been cycling to work for the last 2 weeks to reduce his carbon footprint; Waseem is fasting at the moment, so no mention of chips please...and burgers...and pizza...drool...

As it’s coming up to exhibition time, we’d love to speak to decision makers who’re showcasing their services at trade fairs or business exhibitions before the end of the year. We can help create a stunning stand, full of impact with great banners, magic brochures and quirky giveaways, helping to ensure your business name stays front-of-mind. If you, or someone you know fits the bill, do pass on our details and/or let Julie know at julie@39stepsstudio.com,

Hot off the press

Bedlam Membership Pack
39steps designed the membership pack and supporting promotional material for Bedlam Paintball's newly launched membership scheme, Club Bedlam. Based on a crosshair, the pack neatly folds down to a cd size, housing various vouchers redeemable against play.

'The team at 39steps were an absolute pleasure to work with during the creation of our Membership Pack. From the initial idea, through the many new ideas generated by your good selves, and the numerous revisions we went through, to the fantastic finished product, 39steps were extremely helpful and efficient in realising the concept we had in mind. We are delighted with our new Membership Pack, and it has been selling out in each of our 3 venues!. Great work folks!'

The Orb

and some more
The Orb – U.F Orb
Back in 1992 a movement peaked that altered the state of dance music forever. Now this statement could be equally applied to several movements of the time. Rave, jungle, Madchester? Nope, we’re talking Ambient-house... remember? Reaching No.1 in the album charts, a serious achievement for the little known group, this was it’s crowning glory. From the swirling, outer-space beauty of ‘O.O.B.E.’ to the Slam-produced ‘Close Encounters’ sounding exactly what it would be like to go joy-riding with aliens, this is The Orb's most assured and most melodic album. Whether because the band was going the extra mile, or because of some magical fairy dust, U.F.Orb actually worked as a whole, it was relaxing, funny, mesmerising, an excellent listen with headphones, as background music, and loudly to dance to the bits which actually had beats. The stand-out track had to be the simply stunning ‘Blue Room’ (unfortunately not in it’s 40 minute incarnation here). The Orb promoted this single with a legendary ‘avant-garde’ performance on Top of the Pops where members Patterson and Weston played a game of chess in space suits while footage of dolphins ran in the background over the tune. An all-round classic, they simply don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
